I’m just all over the place for the past few days, jumping from one project to the next.
This evening I’m working on the world.
This image isn’t a final work and is based off the tutorial Create a Realistic Earth from Blender Guru.
I initially had some big problems with the textures involved. Whenever I attempted to load in the bump map image Blender would invariably crash. This was pretty frustrating and it has taken a couple of days to get it resolved. At first I thought it was a problem with the 2.59 release of Blender. In the end I was able to fix the problem by reducing the size of the images.
Once I got past the crashing the actual building of the Earth was pretty quick and painless.
Up next is adding some effects in the compositor and then animating it to use as a background plate for future use with some ship models.
